Madrid offers a rich and varied choice of activities designed to delight kids and leave them with unforgettable moments from their time in Spain’s vibrant capital. Here is our selection of the best things to do with kids in Madrid, but there are many more.
Museums for kids in Madrid
Who said museums are no good for kids? Below are some of the cultural attractions they will love:
Ratón Pérez House Museum
8 Arenal Street is the address of the house-museum for one of the city's most famous figures: Ratón Pérez, the mouse that is the equivalent of the English Tooth Fairy. A very kind and friendly mouse, lover of books and music, always dressed in a straw hat, with golden glasses and a red wallet full of magic.
National Natural Science Museum
Set in beautiful gardens on the Avenida Castellana, young and old alike can explore the treasures of our planet and learn more about the importance of biodiversity conservation. On weekends and during school holidays there are also cultural activities such as workshops, storytelling or guided tours.
Nomad Immersive Museum
This family-friendly and educational space next to Plaza de España is an interactive platform that stimulates exploration of the unknown, feelings and proximity to the natural environment. Kids will be transported to a dream world, immersed in a futuristic, dynamic and realistic story.
Wax Museum
Located next to the central Plaza de Colón, this museum is ideal for allowing kids to learn more about historical figures and current personalities. They can also take photos with idols such as Bart Simpson, Justin Bieber, Cristiano Ronaldo or Rafa Nadal.
Sports activities with kids in Madrid
These suggestions are perfect for sports fans:
Tour of the Santiago Bernabéu
Kids who are football fans love to visit stadiums, especially if it’s such an iconic one as the Santiago Bernabéu. Here they can see what it feels like to step out onto the pitch, visit the tunnel, the press room, the team benches and even the presidential box.
Sputnik Climbing Centres
Sputnik has four climbing centres in the Madrid region: Legazpi, Chamberí, Las Rozas and Alcobendas. You can go whenever you like or book an activity in advance, such as the Kids Challenge or Family Climbing. This is definitely one of the most exciting and fun ways to get started in this sport.
Ice Palace
What about ice skating? The Ice Palace Shopping Centre is home to a spectacular 1800 m2 rink. Gloves, skates and other equipment are available for rent, and after whooshing around the ice, you can enjoy one of the lovely restaurants on the upper floor, with options to please all tastes.
