Ibiza with Children: the best family activities

When planning a family holiday, it's important to choose a destination that everyone will enjoy. Although famous for its nightlife, Ibiza is also a perfect island to visit with children: the safety and beauty of its beaches, its cultural heritage, and the extraordinary range of leisure activities ensure guaranteed fun for even the youngest members of the family. 

Ibiza boasts spectacular beaches to be enjoyed by all the family. We've selected the beaches that meet all the requirements for visiting with children: calm, shallow waters; shade; a wide sandy area; and all the amenities required for a perfect day out. 

Near the centre of Ibiza, you will find the longest beach on the island: D'en Bossa Beach. Although popular for its lively beach clubs and festive atmosphere, it also has quiet areas that are ideal for young children. Specifically, the last section of the beach, the one closest to Torre des Carregador, is perfect for sports because of its expanse and calm.  

Santa Eulària Beach is a beautiful urban beach with all the amenities you need: beach bars, restaurants, jet ski rentals, surf lessons, kayaking, diving, boat hire, and more. Located in the heart of the town, it also offers lifeguard services and assistance for people with reduced mobility. Just a few metres away, children can get up close to the ducks that inhabit the river mouth. 

At the other end of the island, at Sant Josep, Cala Bassa is a 250-metre-long paradise. Here you can rent sun loungers, enjoy delicious Mediterranean dishes, and spend a full day at the beach with all the amenities. In addition to its services, Cala Bassa boasts attractive natural surroundings: light sand, lush pine forests where you can take refuge from the intense sun and a rocky area that resembles a lunar landscape. Just 12 kilometres away is Cala Tarida, another beautiful sandy beach with shallow waters, making it an ideal and peaceful place to visit with children. 

Ibiza Ethnographic Museum introduces young children to the island's history and traditions in an engaging and visual way. The museum building, a former farmhouse, houses traditional costumes, everyday objects, tools, farming implements, musical instruments, toys, weapons, jewellery, and even an olive oil press. These types of activities also promote values such as respect for local culture, sustainability, and the importance of traditional crafts. 

The valleys and hills of Santa Eulària des Riu offer a highly attractive natural environment for cycling, an activity that can be enjoyed all year-round in Ibiza. Most routes are suitable for all levels and offer options in both natural and urban settings. Route R13, also known as the River Route, is the way to discover the importance of the riverbed in the development of the town, learn interesting facts, and find out about legends and points of cultural interest that really engage young people. 

Acrobosc Ibiza is a fantastic outdoor adventure park that combines fun, sport, and contact with nature. Located in a pine forest, just 100 metres from Cala Pada beach, the park helps children develop skills such as balance, coordination, and self-confidence as they tackle circuits of suspension bridges, zip lines, and games at different heights. All these activities are suitable for their age. If you prefer a water-based activity, you'll find Aguamar Water Park in the southeast of Ibiza, and Port d'es Torrent, Sirenis Aguagames Ibiza. 

In northern Ibiza, you'll find Es Currals Alpacas Ibiza, the island's first alpaca farm, located on a large estate in a beautiful natural setting. In this rural location, children can get up close to alpacas, learn about their care and behaviour, and appreciate the importance of respecting animals and the natural environment. This activity fosters values such as empathy towards other species, responsibility, and curiosity about country life. 

Do you love history? Then you can't miss a visit to the Puig des Molins Necropolis Museum. Puig des Molins is a small hill located to the southwest of Ibiza Bay, chosen by the Phoenicians in the mid-7th century BC for burials. This archaeological site, one of the best-preserved Punic cemeteries in the Mediterranean, reveals the way of life and culture of the civilizations that inhabited this area over 2,500 years ago. The museum combines archaeological artifacts, reconstructions, and a tour of hypogea carved into the rock, making the visit a truly educational adventure.
