Ibiza is synonymous with freedom. For decades, the White Island has welcomed visitors from all over the world seeking more than just sun, sea, and parties: a place to be themselves and to be free. Therefore, it's no surprise that naturist tourism is popular on the Pityusic Islands. If you want to feel the sea on your whole body during your Ibiza holiday, these three nudist beaches are a must visit.

1. Es Cavallet

Within the Ses Salines Natural Park, one of Ibiza's most valuable protected areas due to its biodiversity and landscape, lies Es Cavallet, a symbol of the genuine and free Ibiza. This beach stands out not only with its natural beauty but also by being Ibiza's first nudist beach and one of the pioneers of naturism in Spain.

The wide stretch of sand is divided into three distinct areas:

  • First section, family area: The first section, located near the parking area and main access points, is the busiest. Nudism is common but not exclusive, so a mixed crowd co-exists in this section in a relaxed and respectful way. Here you'll also find the most popular restaurants and beach bars.
  • Second section, the nudist beach: As you move south, the beach opens up and is less crowded. This section is predominantly nudist and attracts those seeking more privacy and a closer connection with nature.
  • Third section, Ibiza's gay beach: This area of the beach is very popular within the LGBTQ+ community. Most people here bathe naked and the atmosphere is more relaxed. During the summer months, the legendary Chiringay bar becomes an international meeting point, attracting visitors from all over the world.

This diverse atmosphere makes Es Cavallet an inclusive place, where different types of visitors co-exist without the beach ever losing its natural and wild character.

2. Punta Galera

Unlike Es Cavallet, the appeal here lies not in its size or festive atmosphere, but in the unique landscape and almost mystical ambiance.

Punta Galera is located on the west coast of Ibiza, in the district of Sant Antoni de Portmany. The almost geometric landscape has an austere and minimalist character, completely breaking with the classic image of a Mediterranean beach: a succession of large platforms of smooth, light-coloured rock that slope gently down to the sea, forming natural pools and access points to exceptionally clear water.

Access to the area requires a little effort: a walk along an unmarked path and a final stretch on foot among the rocks. This acts as a natural barrier, keeping mass tourism away and encouraging visitors looking for peace, quiet, and a deeper connection with the environment. Although it is not officially designated a nudist beach, naturism is normal and welcome here.

Punta Galera is also renowned for its sunsets. Facing west and looking out over the sea, it offers a clear view of the horizon, ideal for enjoying the sunset in a relaxed and contemplative setting.

3. Cala Xarraca

On the northern tip of Ibiza, not far from Portinatx, lies Cala Xarraca. Its rugged landscape and the boathouses that line part of the shore lend a traditional and authentic character to this medium-sized cove, nestled between hills and pine trees. Its exceptionally clear waters and rocky seabed make it one of the best spots on the island for snorkelling.

Access to Cala Xarraca is easy by car, and there is a nearby parking area. It’s therefore very crowded during peak season, especially in the central part of the cove, where there is no nudism. However, if you head to the right, following the line of rocks, you'll find a discreet and peaceful area where there has been naturism openly for years. It's not a designated or official area, but it's widely known and accepted by regulars.

It's undoubtedly the best option if you want to enjoy a full day at the beach: swimming, snorkelling, and relaxing in the sun, away from the more crowded beaches in the southern part of the island.
