The best beaches in Valencia

Valencia boasts twenty kilometers of fine golden sandy beaches with exceptional water quality.

If you are looking for a day of sun and relaxation in Valencia, you can choose between urban beaches with all services and a large promenade, such as Cabanyal, Malvarrosa, and the neighboring Patacona, or more remote and wild beaches, such as El Saler or La Devesa, among many others. Additionally, thanks to the bike lane network, it's easy to cycle to all of them. 

Cabanyal

A stone's throw from the Marina of Valencia is Cabanyal beach, named after the old fishermen's neighborhood. Just steps from the city, this nearly 200-meter sandy beach has all the services for bathers, including umbrella and sunbed rentals, sports areas, and a nautical channel so you can safely practice any water activity. Additionally, the promenade has good restaurants and venues that become meeting points for drinks at night.

El Saler

Surrounded by lush pine forests and protected by a valuable ecological dune cord, El Saler retains the natural beauty of wild beaches. It's the perfect choice for those who want to enjoy a relaxing swim in a peaceful and quiet environment. Although it's a natural beach, it has several services such as lifeguard stations, water sports areas, and many restaurants and picnic areas to end a beach day with some delicious local dishes. 

Malvarrosa

It is the most famous and well-known of all Valencia's beaches. Its name comes from when it transitioned, in the mid-19th century, from a swampy area to a floral plantation of mallows. It was once traversed by a famous tram, now modernized, which gave its title to a famous novel by Manuel Vicent, Tranvía a la Malvarrosa. Besides a beautiful promenade, it has refreshment stands, sunbeds, and umbrellas, and offers endless activities: fitness classes, crossfit, surfing, stand-up paddle, windsurfing, or kayaking. Diving enthusiasts will find in its spectacular reef octopuses, starfish, breams, or algae, a rich marine ecosystem located 200 meters off the coast and three meters deep. 

Malvarrosa

Patacona

Patacona beach is the natural extension of Malvarrosa beach, in the neighboring municipality of Alboraia. It is a wide and open sandy area, with a length of one kilometer and a busy promenade. It also has an interesting gastronomic and leisure offer. Just five minutes from the beach, you can visit the Valencian Orchard, one of the most prominent native landscapes and the best example of the area's important fruit and vegetable production. Don't leave Patacona without trying the delicious horchata, the most famous being that of L'Obrador de Bou, made with organic local chufa.

Tavernes de la Valldigna

The beach is located five kilometers from Tavernes de la Valldigna and is a local favorite for its wide range of leisure and dining options. With fine golden sand and about six kilometers of coastline, it is an ideal beach for water sports such as windsurfing and kitesurfing. One of the peculiarities during the summer season is that you can enjoy a summer cinema, as well as charming beach bars on the sand. 

La Devesa

Among Valencia's wild beaches, La Devesa is the most valued by visitors. One of the main attractions of this sandy area is its privileged location, framed by two immense aquatic spaces, the Mediterranean Sea and L'Albufera, the largest freshwater lake in Spain. In its five kilometers, you can explore a rich ecosystem, where vegetation such as pines, palm trees, kermes oaks, mastic, and honeysuckle shelters numerous birds.
