Abel Matutes foundation

Abel Matutes foundation was created in 1978 by Abel Matutes Juan to promote culture, sports, and scientific and sociological investigation, as well as the promotion and protection of the Environmental, Artistic, Cultural and Historic Heritage of Ibiza and Formentera.

Today, it continues to provide assistance (both economic and other kinds) to the work of people and institutions in all branches and sectors that are beneficial or useful to the islands of Ibiza and Formentera and their people.

Annual charity donation

Every year, the foundation makes a Christmas donation of €24,000 to four charity organisations operating on the Pityusic Islands: UNICEF España, Manos Unidas, the Spanish Red Cross and Cáritas Diocesana de Ibiza y Formentera. This money helps fund projects run by the charities to support and assist different groups.

Football clubs agreement

For the last 18 years, the foundation has been signing an annual agreement with the football clubs on the island at all grassroots levels. They receive a total of €12,000 towards purchasing sports equipment, which is shared out among the football clubs.

A sea of possibilities

Since 2015, Fundación Abel Matutes has been one of the main sponsors of “Un Mar de Oportunidades”, a sports therapy programme. The initiative is run by the Ibiza Yacht Club and consists of recreational-sporting-therapeutic activities carried out at sea for people with special needs and/or at risk of social exclusion.
