Select one of the cities in which we are present and discover the opportunities that have been carried out in each of them.
“A sack of potatoes, a cauliflower, six yoghurts, a bottle of oil, a kilo of flour” were the products that María, user of the Fundación Altius self-service in Madrid, had on her list on the morning when a group of volunteers from the Palladium Hotel Group headquarters in this city went along to lend a hand.
During the morning, they served fresh food, non-perishables, cleaning and personal hygiene products to 107 socially vulnerable people and their families.
The volunteer activity consisted of helping to manage the warehouse in Madrid:
Thank you, Fundación Altius, for showing us what is really going on around us and stopping us from looking the other way. We helped a lot of families in Madrid by providing the basics they need to lead a decent life.
“I realise that I am in a privileged situation and I experienced it as part of the team. They involved us right from the beginning and I have realised that we should collaborate in more actions like this, because there are people who really need it.”
Ana María Dominguez

“The concept seemed very ‘integrating’. It is not a question of ‘I’m going to get them to give me food’. I can choose, they help me, it feels like going shopping and there is a feeling of ‘dignity’ for the person. I really liked it.”
Diego Rocha
Volunteer
“Volunteers are the driving force of Altius. They enable us to help more people with training, jobs and food. More than 1,300 volunteers worked at the Foundation in 2023, collaborating with us in different areas.”

Several collaborators from the Palladium Hotel Group headquarters in Madrid spent three hours with 15 migrants from different countries, helping them with the challenging task of finding a job.
They gave recommendations based on their own experiences and the volunteers and beneficiaries did some role playing, putting themselves in the place of the interviewers.
It was an opportunity for the volunteers to realise how fortunate we are. Finding a job is difficult for everyone, but it is even worse for foreigners who are not only in a difficult personal situation, but who also have to deal with a difficult culture and language.
It was an opportunity for Altius users to learn about the recruitment process and get useful tips about what to do and not and say at an interview.
We are grateful to Fundación Altius for giving us some insight into the situations of the people around us and for doing something to help integrate migrant people.
“It is satisfying to be able to share the experience I have gained over the years. I was able to do something to help them launch their careers.”

“I really enjoyed feeling useful. These youngsters were really interested in what we had to say and the opinions of the volunteers who had already been through interviews.”

Eighty-five intrepid bowlers from Fundación Balia split into two groups and visited bowling alleys in the Tetuán and Latina neighbourhoods of Madrid. They were accompanied by their educators and volunteers from the Palladium Hotel Group headquarters in Madrid.
Three hours of fun in a leisurely atmosphere with time for a snack in the park and to show off their bowling skills, with plenty of chatter, laughter and good vibes.
Thank you, Fundación Balia, for giving us the opportunity to:
“It was a very enjoyable day. The best part for me was being able to interact with the children in a completely relaxed way. It was like being one of them.”

The education team at Fundación Balia and 21 children and their families met at the school and travelled by bus to the Museo Reina Sofia. Once there, they had breakfast with volunteers from the Palladium Hotel Group headquarters in Madrid and played an 'ice-breaking' game to get better acquainted.
They then set off for the Teatro Karpas to see a play called “Melocotón en Almibar” (Peach in Syrup), which was followed by a chat with the actors to ask questions and make comments about the play.
After a stroll through Madrid to the El Retiro park, they tucked into a picnic lunch and then played steal the handkerchief.
Thank you, Fundación Balia, for giving us the opportunity to see this play with the children and their families, for the walk through the city and for organising the games with the educators from the Foundation.
“They were all very affectionate, and once we had spent a little time together, they were very chatty and enjoyed telling us things.”

Fifteen volunteers from Palladium Hotel Group's Madrid headquarters created notebooks (front and back covers, decoration and binding) at a notebook workshop taught by workers with intellectual disabilities from Fundación PRODIS.
The volunteers were also able to:
This activity makes young people from PRODIS feel appreciated and allows them to participate as equal, useful, productive members of society. Thank you, Fundación PRODIS, for making it happen!
“It was a delight to spend time with them and feel their good vibes, but I also felt sad about the difficulties that they and their families face to lead a ‘normal’ life (work, get about, relationships with others, leisure activities, etc.).”

“I really enjoyed their presentations and seeing how happy they are to work at the Foundation and all the experiences this has given them.”

It was an enjoyable winter Saturday on the beach, where 30 families from APFEM enjoyed activities organised by the Association. Fourteen volunteers from the headquarters of Palladium Hotel Group in Ibiza also participated.
A total of 39 boys and girls of different ages played with sensory objects - visual, tactile and auditory - and did crafts and motor activities, as well as enjoying a delicious paella. Meanwhile, their parents switched off from the routine and chatted.
The children were able to work with the intervention programme at the APFEM centre (surroundings, personal independence and social relationships).
The families took the opportunity to share experiences in a leisurely environment and get to know other people.
And the volunteers were lucky enough to mix with boys and girls with different abilities and lend a hand so that they and their families could have a pleasant, different day together. Thank you, APFEM, for making it happen!
“I really hope we can have more actions like this with children who have special needs because they are so vulnerable that you can never do enough.”

“This allows the community to empathise more with the families. A lot of families judge other children/parents’ behaviour without understanding that it is difficult to deal with a lot of situations.”
Estela Sales
Volunteer
“I wanted it to be a time when the children's parents and children could relax, because we were with them. I played with the children, one of them in particular.”

“All the participants seemed very happy, not only the volunteers but the children and their families.”

Thirteen children aged between three to six from the primary stage of the Betania social-education centre, a team of educators and several volunteers from the Palladium Hotel Group in Ibiza started the day playing football with a bottle of water, tag or just chatting to get better acquainted.
But the best was yet to come, brushing the horses’ manes, braiding them, riding them, doing different exercises on horseback and taking them for a little stroll. Dismounting, grooming and feeding the horses was a lot of fun, and they all participated enthusiastically in these tasks.
The following Saturday, 15 secondary school students took part in the same activity, but this time as a gymkhana, which consisted of:
This teamwork brought all the participants, volunteers and horses together.
Thank you, Centro Betania! We loved taking part in an activity that took the children away from their screens and routines to a place where they could learn about animals and nature.
“The plan turned out brilliantly and there was plenty of time to break the ice and get to know the youngsters. Each in their own way and with our best intentions.”

“The kids had a brilliant time. Some of them had never seen a horse before let alone ride one. The volunteers were great with the kids and they became comfortable with the adults very quickly; they played, talked and opened up to all of them.”

Thirty-five participants. A 5.5 km jog. 37.5 kg of waste recovered. These are the results of an activity organised by Ibiza Sostenible.
A group of Cáritas users and volunteers from the Palladium Hotel Group headquarters went plogging and picked up rubbish and litter in the Natural Park of Ses Salines in Ibiza.
Three hours of:
Thank you so much, Ibiza Sostenible, for helping us to appreciate our surroundings, our flora, fauna and dune system in the only catalogued nature park on the island.

Don't you find it easier to talk about things you have been through yourself than things you have only heard about from other people?
This was the case for 13 collaborators from some of the Palladium Hotel Group hotels and headquarters in Ibiza who volunteered at the Fundación Integra Empowerment School.
They shared small tips based on their own experiences as homeless people, recovering addicts, female victims of gender violence, young people at risk, people with dependent family members, immigrants and refugees, and people with disabilities who showed their preferences for working in the sector by participating in some of the following workshops:
The main goal was to give them self-confidence to get through the recruitment process.
Many thanks, Fundación Integra, for allowing us to use our knowledge and professional experience to help other people.
“Thank you for inviting us and for giving us the opportunity to share our experience with an enthusiastic group of people who are keen to learn.”
