We have selected a range of social initiatives that will help us to reduce inequality. And, of course, we are relying on the support and participation of our full team of partners to achieve it.
Two afternoons in the Oasiz shopping centre in Torrejón during which 31 youngsters with learning disabilities from the Fundación Prodis foundation had a great time in the company of their monitors and eleven volunteers from the Only YOU Boutique Hotel Madrid.
The bus laid on from the Foundation made it easier for the participants to take part in this activity, and they had a great time jumping on the trampolines and enjoying snacks afterwards.
It was a very stimulating activity, something new and special for them, which they would not be able to do under other circumstances.
Thank you, Fundación Prodis, for showing us things we didn’t know about learning disabilities, for the work you are doing at the Foundation and for giving us the opportunity to share a fun afternoon with your youngsters.
“The members of Prodis were really open with us at all times, and I genuinely loved that, and seeing how they all helped one another.”
Carmen Escamilla
Volunteer
“Engaging in activities with volunteers is a positive experience, both for the volunteers and for the participants from Prodis and their families, to share spaces and experiences with people with and without disabilities, normalising these relationships.”
Iria Hdz-Cañizares
Director of Institutional Relations, Fundación Prodis
The purpose of the trip arranged for seven students from the “Cocina Conciencia” School run by
the Fundación Raíces at BLESS Hotel Madrid was for them to find out about the different jobs at a hotel. Particularly in the restaurant/bar areas, the kitchen and the office, which is usually where they will start their career after completing their training.
However, they also got to know all about the housekeeping service, general cleaning, maintenance and the laundry facilities to learn more about the different employment opportunities in a hotel, with a view to finding a job subsequently.
During the visit, volunteers showed them all the different areas and introduced them to key staff members for each of these roles and areas, who explained what their job entails, the working conditions of the job, and reasons why they might want to do it.
This activity allowed beneficiaries of the Foundation to see the reality of jobs they might do in the future, and helped them to identify the different jobs and the features and functions of each one.
Thank you, Fundación Raíces, for giving us the opportunity to meet these vulnerable young people who do not have any family support here in Spain, and who have so much to bring to the job market..
“The youngsters who took part in this activity were very positive about it. They loved how dynamic the visit was and were grateful for the opportunity to see how a hotel works from the inside. They particularly liked the working atmosphere in the hotel. In fact, at the end, many of them expressed their interest in working at the hotel.”
María Areces
Fundación Raíces
“It was a very moving day, especially seeing how you can easily help people who are in a vulnerable situation and how keen they were during the activity. I would definitely do something like this again.”
Paula Jiménez
Volunteer
“What I liked most was the genuine connection that was made and seeing how much they enjoyed the hotel visit and actively participated in the activities.”

Employment training at Only YOU Hotel Atocha taught by several volunteers from Palladium Hotel Group with the support of staff from the Fundación Integra foundation.
These Empowerment School workshops explored socio-professional skills and, thanks to them, beneficiaries gained the knowledge and tools they will need to find work.
The training involved three 90-minute workshops:
Communication for confidence.
Tackling a job interview.
Interviews: rights and wrongs.
The candidates then had the opportunity to attend a lunch laid on by the hotel and share more time with the volunteers.
Thank you, Integra Foundation, for making it possible for:
A total of eleven people at risk of social exclusion to take part in the project and improve their job options through training in the Empowerment School.
One person affected by severe social exclusion will find work after taking part in the training. We hope many more of them can also find work in the near future.
“An incredible experience where we were able to connect with other realities that we think are very distant from us, but which live alongside us every day.”

“I’ve learned you have to be really on the ball when you are up for a job. If they call you and you don't answer, they send you an e-mail and you don’t reply, they won’t pick you! And not to ask about the salary straight away.”

19 youngsters from the Integrated Autonomy and Independence Service, 8 professionals from Down Málaga, 7 work placement students and 15 volunteers from Hard Rock Hotel Marbella took part in a morning of convivial collaboration at the Association’s offices.
The morning kicked off with a talk about the organisation so that employees of Palladium Hotel Group understood more about how it operates, the process of employment inclusion followed and the different areas of work.
Then, groups of volunteers took part in the four projects carried out by the Integrated Autonomy and Independence Service of Down Málaga.
In the Hospitality Project, they collaborated with youngsters from the café and catering service to sell biscuits and cakes made fresh that day, clear up and clean the coffee break room, and with basic accounting tasks.
In the Environment Project, they helped to maintain, tidy and cultivate the allotment and green areas of Down Málaga, in a fun and pleasant atmosphere.
In the Art Project, they helped the youngsters to make personalised key rings in a very active and communicative way.
In the Technology Project, they helped members of the group to create three designs on “Canva” using a photo taken at the start of the day. These designs were then used to create wonderful rucksacks that were given as gifts to the volunteers from the hotel.
Thank you, Down Málaga, for integrating us so well and getting us actively involved in your day-to-day activity and showing us how the people from Down Málaga can stand on their own two feet and have a real possibility to join the work force.
“I learned that talking to them is exactly the same as talking to someone who doesn’t have Down Syndrome, you just have to get to know them and take time to listen to them.”

Liang, Carmen and Miguel, together with María, the coordinator of this group from Hogar Sí, and eight volunteers from Only YOU Hotel Málaga visited the aquarium in Benalmádena and enjoyed a picnic together in La Paloma park.

Three very special young people, whose curiosity to keep growing as people is filled with a wonderful energy that comes from knowing that life is all about the good things.
Thank you, Hogar Sí, for giving us the opportunity to get to know Liang, Carmen and Miguel who, with their enthusiasm and permanent smile showed us their lust for life. It was very interesting to listen to their stories and see just how great they are.

A very complete day during which 16 volunteers from Only YOU Hotel Valencia, 16 members of an Asindown psychosocial group, and 12 from the training group spent time and played basketball together.
The morning began with a talk to raise awareness about the following:
The people served by Asindown, what Down Syndrome is, picking apart certain myths and misinformation surrounding learning disabilities.
The working methods used by Asindown, looking at all its areas of work.
Tips about how to interact with a person with Down Syndrome or learning disability during the subsequent basketball activity.
The participants then all enjoyed sharing lunch together while they visited the premises of the Asindown Foundation and the Psychosocial Support Centre.
The Psychosocial Support group carried out various basketball activities in pairs (one user and one volunteer), while the training group carried out a circuit with basketball shots and passing games.
Thank you Asindown for giving us the opportunity to raise awareness about disability and for making it so much fun for us all.
“It was an unbeatable experience! The volunteers were very friendly and personable, which boosted the confidence of our users and made them feel more comfortable.”
Esther González
Head of Asindown Leisure and Volunteering
“Getting out of the hotel, having a different experience, sharing that affection, teaching, having fun and working with the beneficiaries of Asindown as a team, and so much more besides, they would be the main feelings we had at the end of the activity, which made us so happy to be doing it.”

Ten youngsters from Taller Joven, employees of the Fundació per a Persones amb Discapacitat de Menorca (Menorca Foundation for People with Disabilities) and volunteers from Palladium Hotel Menorca enjoyed a day of learning and companionship.
Volunteers from the hotel:
Listened to presentations given by the youngsters about disability, the types of activities they carry out at Taller Joven and the work placements they do in companies.
Showed them round the hotel and talked to them about different jobs and duties, and they worked on something together.
Chatted over lunch and ate with them.
All the beneficiaries of the FPDM were impressed at seeing such a large hotel.
Thank you, FPDM, for showing us that:
Life is better when you live to the full.
All companies should give people with disabilities the opportunity to work. They are a very valuable asset.
Everyone can carry out many of the tasks (adapted to some degree) required in a hotel.

11 users and 6 professionals from the Ibiza and Formentera Multiple Sclerosis Association (AEMIF) along with 11 volunteers from Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel enjoyed a very special day together at the Grand Palladium Palace Ibiza Resort & Spa.
The collaboration of the volunteers was simple but very positive. They helped the people from AEMIF to feel at ease engaging in different activities from their usual routine, getting more out of life and seeing different places and faces.
They provided them with support at all times, making sure they had everything they needed, but above all they listened, chatted and took a genuine interest in their problems and needs.
Thank you, AEMIF, for showing us that:
It's possible to overcome obstacles.
It doesn’t take much to be very happy

First thing in the morning, 23 users of APFEM and their 4 companions were very excited and nervous to be spending the whole day at a hotel with real rock ‘n’ roll history.
The welcome they received at the Hard Rock Hotel Ibiza was explosive. Volunteers met them with balloons and a keyring as a gift, which they loved.
During their tour of the hotel, the members of APFEM admired all the legendary memorabilia on display, including clothes and accessories from the biggest rock stars on the planet.
Then they enjoyed activities in the pool: team games like water basketball, or just sitting back and chilling in the sunshine.
And naturally, with all that splashing about in the pool, the participants worked up an appetite for one of the highlights of their day: lunch. A very complete menu fit for a king or queen of Rock ‘n’ Roll: crunchy nachos with an assortment of delicious sauces, incredible healthy sandwiches, pizzas, and spectacular desserts, like cheesecake with Oreo cookies and Lacasitos, and an assortment of fruit. All delicious!
In the afternoon, they were so proud to climb the wall in the rock climbing centre and, feeling excited and special, they enjoyed the icing on the cake: relaxing in the soothing waters of the spa.
Silvia, Cristina, Thais, Lucila, Marco, Alejandro, Ramón, Jose Luís, Carlos and Javier and their three monitors enjoyed a day at the Palladium Hotel Palmyra like any other tourists.
A spectacular breakfast, zumba, paddle yoga, a varied lunch, painting on canvas and a funfair with inflatables... These were the activities prepared by hotel volunteers for members of APFEM.
For them, it was very important to relax, enjoy their leisure time with autonomy and independence, change their daily routine, and be able to interact with other people.
For Palladium Hotel Group it was an incredible opportunity to:
Get to know people with special needs and learn more about their lives and challenges.
Understand the importance of inclusion on a day filled with empathy and sensitivity.
Discover the strength and determination that many people have to overcome obstacles in their everyday life.
“Thank you Hard Rock! Thanks for looking after us, for being so authentic, for your knowledge about modern music, for making us feel like Rock ‘n’ Roll stars, for inviting us to lunch and, above all, for being yourselves, being completely open. ROCK AND ROLL FOREVER! GOD SAVE THE MUSIC!”

Two Empowerment Schools were held, one at BLESS Hotel Ibiza and the other at TRS Ibiza Hotel, at which 23 volunteers from these two hotels led workshops on socio-occupational skills.
Thanks to them, beneficiaries of the Integra Foundation acquired the knowledge and tools they will need to find jobs.
The training involved four 90-minute workshops:
The work of finding work.
Creating the best CV
Tackling and practising for a job interview.
“My first day, rights and obligations”, taught using an innovative format in which the beneficiaries listened to the welcome speech given to employees of Palladium Hotel Group on their first day of work.
In the second stage of the training,
the beneficiaries, accompanied by professionals from the hotel team, divided into different groups according to the various functions carried out by hotel staff.
This way, they were able to see first hand what day-to-day life is like for employees in those positions
(bellhops, kitchen, hostess, reception, maintenance, laundry and housekeeping) and carry out the main tasks required by these posts, personally overseen by the volunteers.
In the afternoon, the beneficiaries had the opportunity to check over their CVs with volunteers from the Palladium Hotel Group.
Thank you, Integra Foundation, for making it possible for:
20 people at risk of social exclusion to take part in the project and improve their job options through training in the Empowerment School.
19 people affected by severe social exclusion were able to explore the jobs available in the hotel sector by taking part in “A day with my buddy”.
23 volunteers from Palladium Hotel Group took part in the initiative.
One person affected by severe social exclusion will find work after taking part in the training. We hope many more of them can also find work in the near future.

A business breakfast at Palladium Hotel Cala Llonga to raise awareness about the Projecte Home Balears and its services in the Comprehensive Treatment Centre in Eivissa, especially those related with companies and society as a whole.
The event provided information about strategic practices to promote a
healthy working environment, integrate actions to prevent addictions in the workplace, and strengthen the connectedness and well-being of the team. They also spoke about the careers guidance and intermediation service provided by the Projecte Home Balears.
The event was attended by business owners from the island, representatives of several companies, the media, and eleven volunteers from the hotel who participated and helped to raise the organisation’s profile.
The breakfast was divided into three parts:
Presentation of the organisation.
Networking with the participating companies with a view to finding out the needs of businesses and present possibilities for collaboration.
Business breakfast to establish a network of contacts.
“We feel the event had a solid impact, and our professionals felt very comfortable and well cared for by the hotel staff.”
Marta Bestard
Deputy Manager of PHB
“The message the organisers were giving is important. We were fairly surprised, because they offer a wide range of treatments and therapies for people who suffer from any kind of addiction, which is something we didn’t know.”

61 youngsters accompanied by volunteers from Aspanri and from Only YOU Hotel Sevilla had the opportunity to interact, socialise and work as a team during their trip to the aquarium in Seville.
Watching jellyfish, fish, turtles and sharks, and touching tactile features such as the skins of water dwelling animals created so many positive emotions in them.
The wide variety of colours and sounds provided them with a very enriching and rewarding sensory experience, and they also learned more about the importance of preserving and contributing to the maintenance of sea and river biodiversity.
It truly was a visit that enhanced the personal development of people with disabilities by allowing them to explore the environment at their own pace. And the sensitivity and adaptability of the volunteers made it an incredible and inspiring inclusive activity.
Thank you Aspanri for giving us the opportunity to help your beneficiaries integrate, take part, and enjoy as much if not more than other visitors.
“All the volunteers supported us in the activity the moment we left the centre. They created feelings of excitement and joy at all times, and possessed the skills and qualities required to work with people with learning disabilities.”

18 Members of the Italian Down Syndrome Association (AIPD) and 30 employees from Grand Palladium Sicilia Resort & Spa shared a wonderful day together filled with joy.
They danced, ate, painted, and also promoted the incredible craft beer the association makes among tourists and hotel employees.
The volunteers also got plenty of positive energy from these people and a very special message: “We are all equal and capable of contributing to the development of society”.
Thank you, AIPD, for showing us that:
We also have a talent that we can make available to society. The important thing is to express it without prejudice or limitations.
Recruiting someone with Down Syndrome can be a great opportunity. All you need is a little patience, and the results will be astonishing.
“I felt really useful and happy. It’s an experience I would recommend to everyone because it helps you to give meaning to your professional and personal life.”

A day of companionship at Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife as a group of people from the Orobal Association (Plena Inclusion Canarias) were given a Rock ‘n’ Roll welcome by volunteers from the hotel.
The volunteers were very attentive at all times, making sure the beneficiaries from Orobal had everything they might need as they took part in the aquagym activities, enjoyed the jacuzzi, had lunch and snacks, listened to live music, and took a tour of the facilities.
It was wonderful to see:
Their surprise and gratitude when they arrived.
How they enjoyed playing music in the DJ booth.
The look of joy on their face when it came time to say goodbye.
Thank you, Orobal, for giving us the opportunity to help people with disabilities enjoy our facilities with other guests without making any distinctions, giving them a break from their routines, enjoying every moment, and creating bonds with their companions and everyone else.
“What I liked best was seeing them happy. They are so grateful for every little thing.”
