International Breast Cancer Day on 19 October marks the fight against breast cancer, and Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife is joining the cause with Pinktober - an initiative conceived by Hard Rock International 17 years ago - in a series of events taking place over the month to raise funds for women affected by the disease. Amazing music, a merchandising campaign, and a cocktail mixed up especially for the occasion will all help in the fight these brave women face on their walk to victory.
The proceeds raised by Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife for Pinktober will go to ÁMATE, a unique organisation in Tenerife that works with women with breast cancer. Since 2006 the association has been helping women on their journey through this challenging process. They offer psychosocial support, oncological physiotherapy, workshops, events, and informative seminars; as well as giving support to family members and putting on social and sporting events to raise awareness of the disease and gain funding for research.
Pinktober will see the launch of a specially-designed pin badge as an emblem of strength and support in the fight against breast cancer. The badge will be available for purchase in the hotel's Rock Shop throughout the month. It will be in the shape of a pink ribbon and guitar, with a pattern of guitars and roses in a gleaming metallic finish. 50% of sales proceeds will go to ÁMATE.
Another initiative planned for October is a charity version of one of the island's most famous music events, 'Children of the 80s'. Every month the islands' residents and Hard Rock Hotel Tenerife guests flock to the hotel to dance the night away to the sounds of the 80s and 90s, dressing up in outfits to match. And on 13th October it'll all be for a good cause, with proceeds from ticket sales going to ÁMATE. Pink is the must-wear colour, and a donation is required - it's up to you to decide how much but there's a minimum donation of 3 euros.
This fantastic event will, as always, have the best pop and rock music from the era with special guests 2Unlimited, the Eurodance masters best known for their top hit 'No Limit' making an appearance. There will also be music from trio of DJs Dream Team Reload and local Canary Island superstars Puretas Party keeping guests going all night.
And let's not forget the Pinktober cocktail, mixed up in honour of the month and available to buy throughout the whole of October. The delicious concoction was the winner of an in-house competition, and for every cocktail sold Hard Rock will donate a euro to ÁMATE.
