WHAT DOCUMENTATION DO I NEED TO TRAVEL TO BRAZIL?
All foreigners entering Brazil need a valid passport for at least six months after the date of their arrival. Some nationalities require a tourist visa, which is valid for 90 days and can be granted special extension in the event of legal or medical emergencies. A multitude of countries are exempt from a tourism and business visas including Uruguay, Argentina, and Paraguay - members of the MERCOSUR community - whose citizens can enter with a valid ID or passport for up to 90 days. For detailed information, it’s best to consult the Brazilian consulate or embassy in your country. Upon arrival, all tourists are required to fill out a cartão de entrada/saida (entry/exit card). When leaving Brazil, this must be given back to immigration officials. Losing a card can cause delays returning home. -
DO I NEED TRAVEL INSURANCE IF TRAVELING TO BRAZIL?
Travel health insurance is recommended, even though anyone legally in the country has the right to obtain free emergency medical care. Brazil’s public hospitals tend to be busy and overcrowded, especially in larger cities. Private healthcare standards are high, but treatment is expensive and won’t be provided unless evidence of sufficient funds or travel health insurance documents are provided. -

HOW DO YOU PAY IN BRAZIL?
Brazil’s official currency is the Real (R$). It's favorable to arrive with some local money, but Brazilian airports also have exchange desks and ATMS to attain Reals. Foreign currency can be exchanged in Salvador de Bahia in shops with “cambio” signs, where the exchange rates for cash is usually better than when using an ATM or credit card. Urban areas are filled with ATMs, reducing the need for traveler's cheques, which not all establishments accept. " -
