Palladium’s team cooks up a storm at the Taste of Jamaica culinary competition

Members of our culinary team at the Grand Palladium Resorts in Jamaica have won several awards at the Taste of Jamaica Culinary Competition held in Montego Bay in October.
The breakdown is as follows:
Ernest Levy - Silver Medal in the Lamb Cooking Competition and a trophy for the Best Use of Lamb
Brenton Samuels - Silver Medal in the Pastry Chef of the Year Competition
Rohan McDonald - Bronze Medal in the Fruits and Vegetable Carving Competition
Damion Meyers and Ernest Levy - Silver Medals in the Chef of the Year Competition
In the Senior Team Cooking Competition, our representatives won the Silver Medal and a Trophy for the Best Team of the Competition. The members were sous chef Kevin Hart (team captain), pastry chef Brenton Samuels, ex sous chef Raúl Castillo (team manager), cooks Orville Thompson and Venicia Chisholm, and bartenders Clayton Clarke, Floyd Lawson Waiters and Danish Campbell.
Taste of Jamaica, spearheaded by the Culinary Federation of Jamaica, had young and aspiring culinary talents coming out to explore and gain exposure, as they presented their best dishes to judges who included professional chefs, cake and dessert specialists, all in the hopes of copping the coveted prizes.
Big kudos to the Culinary Team of our Grand Palladium Resorts in Jamaica, the first time they have entered a culinary arts competition!
