Fiesta Hotel Group joins Fundacion Seur's "Bottle caps for a new life" campaign

Fiesta Hotel Group and Fundación SEUR have signed an agreement to collect and recycle all plastic bottle caps that are generated at the Group’s establishments located in Spain. The funds obtained from recycling will be used to help children who suffer serious health problems and have limited resources so they can afford medical treatments and operations.

The agreement is part of Fundación SEUR’s “Bottle Caps for a New Life” campaign which will be extended until December 31, 2013. This nonprofit organization will pick-up and deliver the bottle caps to a recycling plant in Alicante that will donate the value of the materials directly to the kids.

Fiesta Hotel Group has installed drop-off points in the Group’s hotels located in Spain (Barcelona, Cordoba, Seville, Madrid, Oviedo, Valencia, Ibiza, Majorca, Minorca and Canary Islands) in order to encourage the hotel staff and guests to participate in this campaign.

So far, the campaign has collected more than 500 million bottle caps, which is the equivalent to more than 1,000 tons of recyclable material. In addition to helping children, the campaign has helped protect the environment by freeing the atmosphere from more than 1,500 tons of CO2 emissions each year.

“Bottle Caps for a New Life” has helped children like Iker who needed a parapodium to improve his mobility; Aitana, who was able to get a complicated surgery in Boston; Hector, who got a mechanical wheelchair that improved his quality of life significantly, and Guillermo, who underwent a very special treatment so he could enjoy a better life.
