The pleasure of reading is still alive in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

The 14th edition of the International Book Fair Santo Domingo 2011 is currently being held at the Plaza de la Cultura Juan Pablo Duarte until 22nd of May. This new edition celebrates the 500th anniversary of the foundation of the Santo Domingo Diocese
 – First Bishopric in America, and will feature the Holy See as the honor guest, making it the very first time the Vatican attends such an event.

Once again, the spaces housed by the pavilions will promote understanding and interaction with diverse local and international cultural elements while creating a truly marvelous spectacle within the fairgrounds. There are several pavilions that stand out, such as the Museum of Music, the Cooking Book, the Children’s Fair and the E-Book, amongst others. At the Bohemian Café, the most visited pavilion, visitors can relax while enjoying recitals, music and lectures. The Book Fair will also feature different contests for reading and writing aficionados. 

There are only 8 km between the Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino and the Plaza de la Cultura where the International Book Fair is being held so we’d like to invite our guests to discover and enjoy the world’s greatest source of knowledge and pleasure: books.
