January 18, 2011 back
This year, the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival will be celebrating its 15th edition from January 23-28 at the Greenfield Stadium in Montego Bay. Founded in 1996, along with Air Jamaica, the Festival has become in the last fifteen years in a must-attend event for Jazz & Blues fans in Jamaica and all over the world. They started with a one-weekend event and 1,500 participants, and today the festival lasts an entire week with more than 25,000 loyal admirers. As the name indicates, it began as a showcase for Jazz and Blues musicians, but over the years it has evolved to include many other musical genres such as Reggae, R&B, Latin, Country, Gospel, Caribbean, and World Music to name just a few. Past artists have included Ziggy Marley, Diana Ross, Alicia Keyes, Julio Iglesias, Kool and the Gang, Lou Rawls, Maxi Priest, Kenny G., Harry Belafonte and Erykah Badu, amongst others. In addition to unforgettable music, the festival also offers a wide range of delicious Jamaican and International cuisine, and booths stocked with crafts by artisans from all over the islands. The lineup for the upcoming 15th edition of the Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival will bring together international and local stars such as Sisters With Voices, Maroon 5, Diana King, Laura Izibor, Tavares, Regina Belle, Brenda Russell and Paul Peress Project. We encourage our guests staying at the Grand Palladium Resorts in Lucea, Jamaica, to attend this great musical celebration.
