Included in the many activities currently being held to commemorate the election of Santo Domingo as the Cultural Capital of the Americas in 2010, FIARTE (Feria Internacional de Arte Santo Domingo: International Art Fair Santo Domingo) will hold its second edition on November 10-14 at the Don Diego Terminal in San Soucí. This fair aims to promote art at every level of creation and support new generations in their search for artistic values. This edition will be dedicated to Dominican architect Amable Sterling who will share this recognition with other internationally renowned artists such as Mauro Arbiza and Pablo Atchugarry from Uruguay, Walter Goldfarb from Brazil, Arturo Montoto and Raúl Valladares from Cuba, Guillermo Muñoz Veras –Chilean artist who lives in Spain- and Edgart Negret from Colombia. As a unique event in its category, FIARTE will be known for its careful selection of the artwork featured, and for the quality and cultural-aesthetic value of the pieces presented and their creators. The fairgrounds have allowed for a curatorial project that generates a wide spectrum of possibilities to establish interesting dialogues between individual artworks. The Dominican Fiesta Hotel & Casino is just 14km from the fairgrounds, so we would like to encourage all of our guests to participate in this one-of-a-kind event that sets the future of contemporary Dominican artists in dialogue with the international art scene.
