The Dominican Fiesta Hotel, located in the capital of Santo Domingo, offers rooms, food and lodging to volunteers who are helping earthquake survivors of American citizenship return to U.S. territory.
The Hotel has played a major role in the early hours of the disaster. In order to aid the U.S. Embassy in evacuating American citizens residing in Haiti, the hotel provided 2 of its conference rooms with coffee, milk, water, and other supplies for more than 2 weeks as a team of volunteers hosted between 60 and 100 American citizens each day that were formerly residing in Haiti. These citizens were registered by the Embassy’s travel agency and evacuated to U.S. territory.
In addition, on the same day as the earthquake, representatives of the Hotel Dominican Fiesta visited the United Nations offices and confirmed an agreement which provided 2 courtesy conference rooms for use in any rescue operation. Moreover, an agreement was signed for 1 year for block of 100 rooms and rental of our meeting rooms as well as 7 commercial areas on our property.
