The PHG Experience

It's Christmas Time at Fiesta Hotel Group: from North to South, East to West.

December 14, 2010 back
Fiesta Hotel Group celebrates Christmas in two continents, two hemispheres and different time zones…from the Sicilian Mediterranean to the paradisiacal Pacific Ocean coastline, from the hundred-year-old Spanish cities to the Brazilian natural reserves. In all these destinations, families and friends gather together to celebrate one of the most important holidays of the year: Christmas Eve.  While cold temperatures and snow in Europe create the most common scenery during this time of the year, in our Resorts in the Caribbean, Pacific Ocean and Brazil, the tropical climate allow for a more summery celebration. No matter on which side of the globe you are, Christmas Eve is traditionally celebrated with family. In fact, not too long ago bars and restaurants in Spain didn’t even open. In a typical Spanish Christmas dinner table you will find seafood, lamb or poultry, along with the delicious turrón and marzipan. At midnight, practicing Catholics attend Misa de Gallo, literally translated as "Rooster's Mass." The same rooster will sing a few hours later in America after dinner guests have enjoyed their exquisitely elaborated Christmas dishes:

Jamaica: chicken, curried goat, ox tail stew, gongo peas, rice…

Mexico: guajolote (turkey), romeritos (mole, potato, nopal and dry shrimp), tamale, Christmas Eve Salad…

Dominican Republic: whole roast suckling pig, pasteles in plantain leaves, rice with pigeon peas, rum punch…

Brazil: roasted turkey, ham, colored rice, chestnuts, ‘rabanadas’ (Brazilian French toasts), panettone, ‘couve a mineira’ (collard greens)…

Ask for the special menus in our hotels featuring some of these typical Christmas dishes specially prepared by our chefs for this special occasion.
The staff from every FHG hotel and resort would like to wish you and your loved ones a heartfelt happy holidays.

Merry Christmas!
