As part of the celebrations held in Santo Domingo to commemorate the honor of being selected the Cultural Capital of the Americas in 2010, and thanks to the collaboration of the Dominican Restaurants Association, the first Gastronomical Circuit of Santo Domingo is taking place until December 31st under the theme “La cultura está de boca en boca” (a play on words loosely translated as “Culture is word of mouth”). During the last four months, dozens of renowned chefs and more than thirty of the best restaurants in the capital have developed a special theme menu based on Dominican customs and traditions. From one to four emblematic dishes, participants had the chance to display their creativity and stamp their own seal of quality in order to create new combinations that would appeal to all senses, and particularly, discerning palates. Dominican Tapas, Sea and Coconut, and Tobacco and Rum are the themes used to develop culinary proposals based on the traditional components of the regional cuisine. Just reading the names of some of the dishes will certainly make your mouths water: cassava crostini with pigeon peas stew, yucca omelet with BBQ goat and refried beans, mashed plantains stuffed with mushrooms and demi-glace eggplants…The Grand Finale of the Dominican Neo-Cuisine will be held in December where the amazing variety we’ve enjoyed during the last few months will have a delicious outcome that will prove once again that the Dominican culinary offer is one of the best in the Caribbean and Central America. We would like to invite our guests staying at the Dominican Fiesta Hotel to enjoy and discover the palette of flavors that are currently featured in the new Dominican cuisine.
