Barcelona is the capital of the Autonomous Community of Catalonia. It is situated on the Mediterranean Sea and is the second most populated city in Spain. It boasts excellent infrastructures and exceptional transportation systems as well as many cultural offerings. The Mediterranean climate and amount of tourist activities (beach, museums, expositions, open-air sculptures…) make Barcelona an important city for business and also for shopping, especially in its historic centre.
One of the most attractive areas for tourists is Las Ramblas, where one will find markets, painters, artists, and actors.
This remarkable city is set among Roman ruins, medieval neighbourhoods and some of the most beautiful examples of Modernism and Vanguard style of the 20th century. Several of the emblematic buildings of the Catalan architechts, Antoni Gaudí and Lluís Doménech I Montaner, have been declared World Heritage Sites.
