There are also outstanding buildings such as the cathedral dating from the 13th century, the urban monuments of Joaquín Vara de Rey, monument to the corsairs in the port, the monument to sailors and fishermen, the fortified churches in every town, the ancient fruit and vegetable gardens of Ses Feixes, the Phoenician village of Sa Caleta and the necropolis of Puig des Molins are all places to see on the island.

The tourist office organises tours to the mediaeval town of Ibiza, when you can take a pleasant stroll round the old town near the port to see the fishing and artists' districts of La Marina, Sa Penya and Es Soto.  

Other visits on the island where you can find monuments include Santa Eulalia del Río with the Ethnographic Museum of Ibiza; Santa Gertrudis des Fruitera, a pretty inland village, typically Mediterranean and picturesque; and San Carlos de Peralta, a tiny, snug village where life centres around a beautiful church built in 1785, and where you can try really authentic Ibizan herb liqueurs.
